Helping Parents Accused of Abuse and Neglect

No relationship is closer or more vital than between a parent and a child. Parenting raises many challenges, and each parent deals with these challenges in his or her own way. And having your children taken away from you by Child Protective Services can be one of the most frightening experiences for a parent, especially as this action generally involves hurtful accusations against you.

Common allegations include:

  • abuse
  • neglect
  • assault and battery
  • child molestation

At Brown & Landry, LLP, we understand how important your children are to you and can give parents the benefit of experienced representation in any child welfare proceeding involving the Department of Social Services (DSS) or Child Protective Services (CPS). Contact us to schedule a free initial consultation about your case and how we can help you stand up for your parental rights.

A Focus on Keeping the Family Together

As emotional and disruptive as it can be, when your children are removed from your care and/or when you are summoned into court on an abuse and neglect claim, it is important to understand that by law, the family court must place a priority on rehabilitation and keeping the family together whenever possible.

Having a child taken into the custody of child protective services is an emotionally heart-wrenching situation. We are sensitive to the vulnerability and anger you must feel at this time. We have contact with counselors and others who are available to help parents going through the ordeal of a CPS action. By making a calm, rational case in family court, we may be able to preserve your parental rights and family relationships.
